General comment about event scheduling and keeping a schedule feeling fresh

Hello!  I don't want to come across negative, but rather to hopefully frame this as some constructive feedback.

The primary issue I see with the game currently has to do with event structure.  I'm not sure what happens behind the scenes in the code, so there is probably some real reason for this, but event repetition makes the game feel more stale.

For example: I do like Hour of Devastation as an intermittent challenge.  But when it was every weekend multiple weeks in a row I began to quickly hate seeing it coming up.  Similarly It was refreshing to see Avacyn's Madness return.  But I just now had a "not again" moment seeing it in the queue.

"Moderation" is the key word I want to use.  It seems to be a point that could be improved as far as event scheduling goes, particularly on "big" weekend events.  It seems lately, the community asks for something and the response has been to give it to them... but go a little overboard and give seconds and thirds beyond the point of satiation.

Similarly, I think the issue many had with RotGP was getting only that so many times in a row.

I think the event schedule, particularly with weekend events, should aim to be staggered more with the goal of not repeating the same event twice in consecutive weeks.

In my opinion, the larger PvP events with named PW like Hour of Devastation, Trial of Zeal, Inventors Fair, etc need to be limited to once a month tops as they tend to be much bigger competitive investments (bigger brackets, longer run with more matches) in addition to providing generally higher rewards commiserate with that greater investment.

Also on the wishlist: there was the Planeswalker event at one point in time (3 "semi-random" planeswalkers picked each time with different personalized objectives) that I would love to see return.

I think the game has enough of a catalog of weekend events old and new that it shouldn't be too difficult to keep things fresher than they have been feeling currently.

Thanks again for listening!  I hope this comment can go toward improving the experience generally.  And promote keeping the event schedule feeling fresh.

I very much agree with this.

Keeping different events rotating in each weekend will keep any individual weekend event from becoming stale too quickly. Especially considering the number of weekend events we have available at this point in time.

Also I'd like events to be more spread out; on Sunday there's nothing new but then on Monday it's usually 1 PVP and 2 PVE events that start.

Would love to see a PVE every other day as well, the 2 that start together are easy to clear the same day.

At one time there was a PvP event on weekends alongside the PvE one.
On weekends when I have the most time to dedicate there are less events to play now.

I agree with this -- a better spread for individual events would be great. I work doubles on Monday and miss a lot -- also I would love to see the color schedule for ToTP rotate --- white is my favorite and I absolutely cannot play it.

A wider choice of TG events with a common rewardladder would be nice.
Players can choose between Legacy-Standard and Enraged-Regular to actually test the deck in a format it will be played in.
Extend the rewardladder to eight tiers with appropriate rewards. Maybe just add the rewards from 1-4 as 5-8. That would mean more rewarding content for those who want, mostly those who are beginnners or grinding for currency, but not big enough of an increase to unbalance anything.

Totally agree with this. Even just rotating fairly recent events would be a great improvement:

    Weekend 1: HoD
    Weekend 2: ROGP
    Weekend 3: ToS
Weekend 4: Trial of PVE (What was that called again?)

agree with this, getting really hard, and boring to do same event over and over again each week. Also, is it possible to end avacyns madness much sooner? Its really bad to have everyone go past the 250 reward mark just to grind for team ( up to 900 points of grinding for no reason ) only the 250 reward mark is worth going for unless you are going for team

Overall I agree with your stance in how  *ideally it would be great to see new events and a flow of events in such a way that we are always entertained and excited, looking forward to what's coming next.

    HOWEVER

Let's take a minute to look at this from Octagon's standpoint.  They've probably got their hands full, still running around trying to pick up the pieces of the previous developer's mess and put together (for their first time) a new set, with new mechanics, that won't produce a ton of glitches that'll piss off their player base.  There were a few bumps in the road with booster crafting, but Octagon was quick to fix the issue, quick to address the problem to us players, and responsive to many of the players who had issues.  They don't want to get Ixalan right when it's released, and they want to minimize any issues that could arise.

That being said, from Brigby's posts we know that they're aware of our impatience, so they basically have been giving us whatever event we collectively ask for, and quickly too, which I think is pretty generous.  Yeah I'd love to see more planeswalker specific events, because the rewards for those events are bountiful.  However I realize that giving us a significant flow of abundance will either lead to price inflation on purchases (which won't be good for the game) or everyone having everything easily (which won't be good for Octagon's revenue).

At this point, I don't think it's possible for Octagon to give us what we want fast enough to keep up with our impatience, so I'd like to remind everyone that we waited 6 months on Hibernum's "well, maybe you'll have nice things someday..." with no new releases whatsoever, maybe we can cut Octagon a bit more slack.  So far they've spoiled us (even if the xmas exclusive was a paper holder).

I haven't gotten sick of Avacyn's Madness yet, particularly because I don't have to use the same sad standard decks I have to use for every other event, and because I get to be nostalgic of my younger days at this game. :)
