Deadpool's WHALES didn't kill enemy team

Hi, I used a Deadpool's WHALES WHALES WHALES team-up and hit the "PUSH ME" button to use my Deadpool points to drop all whales on the enemy team. I was under the impression this would kill the enemy team, but it didn't. It did a lot of damage instead. Why?

I had the same thing happen. It only did standard damage not boosted damage. 1 whale.
