Re-examine PvE Alliance Cover reward distribution

When Alliance covers were first given out they used to be the same cover that went to t10. That used to mean if you were in a top Alliance you could get all three covers by finishing t50 plus a t100 Alliance finish gave you 1/1/1.

The devs changed it to the current system of having the Alliance cover match the t150 cover because they said they wanted to limit alliance swapping for covers.

That has clearly been a failure as Alliance swapping especially for new characters has become a spectator sport.

With the ever increasing dilution of 3*/4* covers the opportunity to end the debut PvE at 1/1/1 I think would make many much happier.

At the time you made the change the policy made some sense but now a few months on could you maybe take another look and see if it makes sense to change it back to the original system.

The more things change the more it would be good to look at previous decisions to see if they still make sense.

Agreed. Now, this isn't a great example since he sucks and I don't really want him covered anyway, but my Quicksliver is at 0/4/3. How does that make any sense? I've almost capped his blue power, and have collected 3 copies of his green from rewards in his release event, featured PvE event and PvP reward event, and I still have no black cover for him? Even if I make it to 800 in Blue Shift, I STILL won't have a copy of his black power. What if quicksilver was my all time favorite Marvel character and I wanted to level him just because I really like him? ...too bad for me, God only knows when I'll come across that first black cover. Why they wouldn't want to get at least one of each cover out to the masses in a reasonable fashion so that people can buy the character out if they so choose is beyond me...

This would also go a long way towards addressing the issues raised by the RNG**-based selection of cover reward order.

**You know, if you flip it enough times, any coin will eventually come up heads. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
  • still on mpq hiatus but I always felt the top 5/10 cover should be the alliance cover. Additional I think the RNG selection of covers is a mistake. If dev's really believe that characters are balanced then the best way to distribute covers is to rotate them so there's an equal chance to get all the covers.

These are just small issues in a sea of bigger ones but they would certainly increase quality of life for those grinding out events

The policy made (something that more closely approximated) sense when there were enough prizes to cover the pool of players who were scoring at a competitive level in an attempt to win the covers, and then some. But the pool of 'competitive' players has expanded. This has happened because of: growth in the community, scaling, and other balancing changes. The net effect is that there are more players scoring at a competitive level, one that what would have earned them a cover in a similar event a year ago. Alliance hopping has increased in prevalence due to the relative scarcity of rewards.
