This is a fun event. Much needed *** covers for many of us players. Unfortunately it doesn't look like I will be able to finish the last node often. My 2 main teams are (all **s): thor(94), daken(94), obw(86) and stormneto (now at 87), hawk(82). Yesterday I barely finished with thor/daken/obw, triple boosting r/g and blue/purple. Today both teams wiped - A team almost completed wave 3 and B team didn't finish wave 2 - both attempts were boosted. Maybe I'm not ready to complete these but man I wanted to be there.

I managed to barely finish the final survival node using Stormento + mHawkeeye.
    Went in iso-boosted all colors.

1st wave mHawk got hit with a Meteor Hammer but I managed to match away, polarity shift or lightning storm away the countdown tiles; even had to use a wind storm or two. Tried to save up as much AP as possible for the next wave and I was surprised by Colossus's Colossal Punch. Down goes mHawk.
Once I got past the 2nd wave, the all goon wave was handled essentially like the first - try to use mostly match damage & limit use of powers. Once it was just the Don, I built up as much AP as I could and finished him off with a power.
3rd wave I immediately tried to hit Doom with a lightning strike but forgot about DP. Fortunately I had enough AP for 2 wind storms and used it on Doom & DP. Spammed lightning strike for AP collection along with a Magnetic Flux giving enough AP for a Polarity Shift that fed into another wind storm. DP was the last one standing with 9 hp which was easily matched away.

You're not ready for transitioning yet. Don't let that get you down. Build those 2*s to 94. The difficulty level is supposed to be there, as this is meant to be an event that is for the level you're at. So if you're in the 2-3* transition, with most of the major 2*s maxed, this shouldn't be a huge problem. But you're not supposed to be able to complete it with your roster being where it's at. This is ok. Get that OBW levelled up, she will be the mainstay of your force. Also level up Ares if you have him - he's quicker than Thor and does a TON of damage. Yellow at 5, the other two, however you want.

A good way to do this, without wasting too much money/iso/hp, is to only boost the iso ones (blue/purple if stormneto is your thing). I would use OBW to stall and steal if you opt for any combo with Ares (hehe, this is her role, and I used alliteration - at least I'm funny to me, lol). Keep going, and you'll get there soon enough. just 3 months ago I was near where you are right now. Keep at it, and you'll soon be competing with the rest. Cheers.

[EDIT] My transition has taken the better part of 4 seasons, and technically, I'm still transitioning. It takes time, but it is possible. Also, play PVP as much as you can, and try and get the 10 pack at 4k.

Thanks for the encouragement. I recently got the covers i needed for ares/obw and will max them next i guess. Was pouring my iso into stormnetohawk but i always thought thor and ares were comparable and i just like thor better as a character, so i played him. If ares is that much better i will certainly alter things. The last event (brotherhood, i think) was very good for ** covers, or even *** - i ended up with 4 or 5 *** covers and finished covering all my **s, just not spec'ed ideally. Now and forevermore (apparently) will be iso poor. Will eventually get ** cap leveled but he isn't a priority over the 5 i'm working on (ares, obw, stormnetohawk) - right? Anyway, thanks again.

What he says here is good advice.
As a point of reference, however, is my roster is under-leveled but fully covered 2* characters (lvl 70-74) with some 3* close to being fully covered.
I did leave out the lucky cascade triggered by my Polarity Shift that took a big chunk of health out of DP and Doom which allowed the final wind storm do the rest.
Sometimes it takes luck and a good board to win a fight you probably had no right in doing so.

    I just posted how I did today's with a 2* roster here:

Today's big Enchilada is the most evil node they've ever created. Even with a 166 roster, it took me three goes at it, because it's almost impossible to get past the first wave without the muscle getting any of his giant strike tiles out, plus a few of the ninja's attack tiles, plus you get hit by Colossus's red as soon as the first wave ends.

Also, the thing glitched on me and gave me Punisher in the first wave one time.

The third time, I made it through with Blade/Lazy Daken/Falcon, but Daken was out in the second wave (the board descided to stop dropping blue after he got hit) and Blade went out in the third, but the attack and strike tiles down wiped everyone else out.

The things I do for 2500 ISO...

muyscle never got out va tile for me, then again you said 'nearly impossible'

    ---

definitely some glitches present in the event
  • First of all, Thanks for the breakdowns of each node and waves on survival. Really makes planning a team and knowing how to finish waves much easier. As someone else said, the key in survival is to have first turn for the next wave. In Enemy of The State there is nothing more satisfying than having a few speedshot's queued up, wiping the last of the Hand, and then watching back to back Wolverines eat it and keeping my turn for the goons that are left.

My teams will be cStorm/MNMags/(yellow/black user) whenever possible. Did you know Lightning Storm is the best board shakeup and AP generator in the game? Turn to Smoke is no match for destroying 28-30 tiles and recharging all my other abilities.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but we might want to make this a weekly thread so it's easier to find the useful stuff like today's cover and survival teams.

I'm a 2* star player myself, and I've finished all of the last nodes so far with thor (90), obw (86) and magneto (86), with only b/p boost.

Use Polarity to gain blue for anti-gravity for heals and delaying cd tiles. Use Recon when you have hoarded a lot of pink. Goon waves 1 and 3 are for hoarding as much of the colors you can, finish those waves with an ability so you get the first move for waves 2 and 4.

IMO Thor is better than Ares for long waves, 2x Sunder can be pretty risky. 2x Call the Storm -> 2x Thunder Call -> Call the Storm is always fun to pull off icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • ****! I just noticed my deadpool cover has changed to his ugly head
  • Day Four:

That Guy From That Place -
    Captain Marvel** (15), Spy (10), Soldier (10)

    Under The Sea -
    Wave 1 Spy (20), Sniper (22), Spy (25), Sniper (28)
    Wave 2 Pyro (40), Grenadier (42), Ironman*** (50), Pyro (46)

    Third Time's The Charm -
Hawkeye** (74), Nick Fury**** (70), Captain America*** (71)

    Dat Required Character -
Captain Marvel** (64), Ares** (60), Human Torch** (63)

    The Big Enchilada -
    Wave 1 Control (99), Subject(100), Brawler (105)
    Wave 2 Beast*** (112), Luke Cage*** (111), Ironman*** (110)
    Wave 3 Criterion (122), Empiricist(121), Decoy (120)
Wave 4 Doctor Doom*** (130), Nick Fury**** (132), Deadpool*** (131)

    Reward: Yellow Luke Cage.

Note: Since it's pretty much definite now that the levels of the characters don't change, just the characters you face, let me know if there's a point to me doing these each day. I'm happy to continue, but if it's pretty much useless that's cool too. Thanks!

I checked this thread to see if someone was so generous post what to expect each wave for the 3* cover, so I was happy to see you did just that. Now I know that not knowing who you are going to face is probably part of the charm of these nodes, so I don't know if that in itself is reason enough to continue posting the characters, but just know that if you were to continue posting them it would not be for nothing.

I chose to fight with LCap, OBW and Ares (all lvl. 70) the last two days, and this combination worked out pretty well for me, so much so that I'd be willing to say that this combination would be able to beat pretty much any team on wave 2 and 4. Maybe if some high HP opponents are teamed up it'd be a bit problematic (Hulk, Devil Dino and Goddess Thor?) it would mean having to try several times, which I think would not reduce the fun of trying to get the cover on offer.

Anyway, kudos to D3 for implementing this Deadpool Daily Quest, lots of fun and terrific rewards (even though I only pulled one gold cover from Taco Tokens, but soon may luck may change). Keep up the good work!

I think its valuable to know who you're facing in survival nodes(personally, I like to go in blind). That being said, the most "valuable" info is who the 3*cover is and the survival lineup if you don't want to do the 'whole' thing.
  • Used Luke Cage (Lvl 85), Ares (Lvl 80) and OBW (Lvl 77).

Wave 2 was the hardest, rest was easy.

Leave Beast for last in wave 2, then just do matches and get your AP up to 30. With OBW healing every now and then Beast is pretty useless (gawd, he's awful).

Use your abilities sparingly for Wave 3, unless you need to get rid of a countdown tile.

Wave 4 just nuke them all in 1 turn (you should have 25-30 AP in each color now).
  • So don't care what others think, I love this new feature! Easily obtained 3* covers and iso rocks!

    Day Five:

That Guy From That Place -
    Magneto** (15), Subject (10), Subject (10)

    Under The Sea -
    Wave 1 Subject (20), Criterion (22), Control (25), Empiricist(28)
    Wave 2 Subject (40), Criterion (42), Spiderman*** (50), Criterion (46)

    Third Time's The Charm -
Spider Man*** (74), Magneto*** (70), Mohawk*** (71) (Editorial Comment: Warning for 2-star transitioners - No MagStorm combo allowed.)

    Dat Required Character -
    Black Widow** (64), Bagman** (60), Thor** (63)

    The Big Enchilada -
    Wave 1 Muscle (99), Thug(100), Analyst (105)
    Wave 2 Punisher*** (112), Human Torch*** (111), Hulk*** (110)
    Wave 3 Criterion (122), Empiricist(121), Decoy (120)
    Wave 4 Thor**** (130), Black Panther*** (132), Sentry*** (131)

    Reward: Yellow Rocket&Groot.

Edit for further anecdotal info: In The Big Enchilada, by the time I got to the 4th wave, the enemy team had built up a full 30 blue AP that it hadn't used, as well as about 18 yellow. Consider that Goddess Thor is at the front of the fourth wave and plan for stuns appropriately.
  • Wave 4 Thor**** (130), Black Panther*** (132), Sentry*** (131)

surprise surprise surprise. this is nasty. barely scrapped through. so much ap had been built that i got powersurged, defense planned and rotp right out of the gate.

My first encounter with this nasty wave 4 was painful too! icon_evil.gif
The second time, I brought 3***Cap' with a stock of 30 redtile.png and bluetile.png AP and was careful enough to play first (wave 3 finished with an ability)...
    ... sweet revenge icon_twisted.gif
  • Nasty indeed. Tried with OBW/2* Thor/Ms. Marvel but the last wave kept getting me.

Tried again with OBW/mHawkeye/cStorm. Had enough AP built up by wave 4 to unleash 2 wind storms and also a couple of speed shots on the board. Still thought I was going to die after BP hit the team with ROTP straight away. cStorm's yellow passive took put the whole team instantly icon_e_smile.gif
