I think it's smart to skip this pve also
From what I have read on forums I came to the conclusion that maybe I should skip this pve and save my self so time that I could use in a more productive way like sleep, actually do some work, spend time with the family, look up and see the world lol. I have not played the past two pves (Electra) and (patch) by the way Electra can be killed. I wonder if there are more people like me that have chosen to not play pve anymore. The real reason I don't do pve it's because it's a waste of time, unfair and long. I hope my topic doesn't get moved to "suggestions".

I entered it after skipping the first whole set of nodes.
when I entered, the top player had 92k.
Decided that Luke Cage was not worth it.
I'm gonna grab that 3000 ISO each set of nodes and move on. I should have known better than to try to reduce the length of these absurd PVEs.0 -

That's what I have been doing lately I also joined late and got a bracket of death so I guess I won't be grinding.0 -
I think joining late is much more risky now.
On the other hand, longer subs means more rubberbanding, so it's easier to catch up.0 -
Thank you. For every one of you that skip or quit, its less work I have to do to maintain my position.0

The people who are skipping and quitting were never the people committed to obtaining the top awards anyway. Only the people without time, other things to do, or the insane compete at that level now. What you're losing are the normal people that pad the game.0 -

I'll be honest, I didn't care what you said. I cared about how you said it. Smug self-superiority at not experiencing their problems is not conducive to good dialogue on the boards. These people are expressing their frustration that at their level of sharding or whatever, to stay competitive requires a ridiculous grind. Good for you if you don't. They do.0 -
I feel for the OP because I think the simulator is one of the better re-run PVE's. It gives challenging matches with villians and heroes, but has really strong scaling in the hard mode. You can earn HP and ISO for the subs and a couple big nodes as well. I think the issue with PVE today is that it is a 7 day event and you can get punished for starting late.
I do believe that one of the reasons we have 7 day PVE is becuase the forum has complained about ISO for so long. Well I got my wish because I complained about it. I just didn't get FREE ISO I have to win it to get it with the 7 day PVE.
With Time slices it is now extremly challenging to judge when to enter the event if you don't want to start right away. If you choose a time slice before the event starts you need to start and play for 7 days of you want to win the fetured cover. If you choose your slice 24-48 hours into the event the bracket might have started and you might be 50k behind the leaders. I started 24 hours into the event and was in the 60's after 1 clear. I was able to play yesterday and today and now I am in the top 25 overall. I am not going to worry about getting top 10 or winning the PVE as it is not that important to me.
Overall I think time slices and time slice brackets are very challenging right now. If they lower the number of people in the bracket then in turn the only give out rewards to much higher placement and everyone will complain. If they keep placement as is people who join late will have a difficult time to place and get 3-4 covers. I hope D3 looks to tweek PVE in the near future, maybe only do 3 time slices instead of 5? Maybe stop filling a bracket once a sub ends? Overall I am enjoying this PVE not just because I am placing well, but because it is a PVE story I like. I am doing well becuase I want the covers and have had the time to play to place. I don't wake up in the middle of the night to play either. All those who are skipping this PVE I hope this is not the begining of the end of playing all together for you, and make sure you win your Luke Cage in PVP!!!0 -
I've pretty much skipped the last two PVE's, because the characters were uninteresting. However, I'm really pumped for this one. I've always liked the "KINDA" Marvel Heroes. Blade, Luke Cage, Ironfist, Daredevil, etc..
I've been playing around with different strategies for attacking PVE. For the most part I view them as ISO grinders, because the new cover really doesn't provide any value if you are a F2P guy. Most of the time I have to buy a slot, for a Hero to just sit there collecting dust, like a majority of the recent 3's I've earned. I decided to jump on this one early and give a solid effort (I've been off work for the holidays). I really don't think these are for me. I think for my play style PVP is a better use of my time.
So while I didn't skip, I agree the cost/benefit is lacking0 -

I don't know whether fmftini was smug about his placement or not... but my experience was similar to his. This is one the more "casual" PVE I participated in. Being able to go out for gatherings without looking at the clock... was simply great.
I think the problem for OP was the fact that he started late in the shard, and he was staring at the huge amount of points for the leaders, and there is frustration that he can't overcome it.
Rubberband take care of that pretty well. My experience is that even if you start late and very far behind, you can eventually make up for it with RB points. Of course, once you ride the RB to top 50, you then have to maintain the grind consistently. You may not be able to get top 10, but top 50 with RB is definitely possible.0 -

Yeah sure. Post here after the pve ends with a screen shot and tell us how you grinded and grinded for 7 days just to get 1 cover.0 -

80k point top top10? are you joking? my overall game result 80K points doesnt stand withing 50
you are just get **** luck0 -
It's about the same for me too. I don't care much about Cage either, but this pve has required pretty minimal involvement for me. I hit all the nodes once at the beginning of the subs then only repeat the essentials every few hours. Not even on a strict exact clock, and in the hard mode I'm not even having to re-hit all 3 essentials, AND not even double hitting any of them before going to sleep and I'm still top 10 or better in both subs and in top 20 overall with barely over 55k. This is nowhere close to being an actual grinder. Not like say Elektra where you had to hit every single node exactly every 3 hours and then pound them all 3 times before sleep each night all just to get 2 covers for making top 10. Now that was a grind.0

Are you using atomzed in the game? We share the same problem as the 1st and 2 nd guy is far away from us. i m "yuiuy" and sub is too hard too finish and to catch up and i m nearly giveup0 -

Oh yes! I'm the same person! So we are in same bracket!
I am not trying to get first and second. I have given up after first sub. I am only trying to maintain a good lead from the 10th spot, as my RL commitments means that I cannot grind optimally.
Am taking it easy and doing the essentials.0 -

Precisely. Most of the characters are not worth it. I do a node once and move on...sadly I have to wait more than two days for the grind-fest of each sub to end.
I'm already borderline on whether this game is fun anymore, and making things seem more like work than fun isn't helping, especially when the reward is nowhere near worth the effort.0 -
ya..all that effort for a heroic token that gives you a cover you already maxed out. Doesn't seem worth it anymore. At least put something in there that knows what abilities you've maxed, so we don't get those. Just saying..0
